August 31, 2007: The day for the Beano lab has finally arrived!
Class began with a brief recap of the purpose of the Beano lab and yesterday’s question, “After five minutes, what is the relationship between the amount of glucose in a sample and the effectiveness of Beano?” Students made predictions and then entered the lab to complete most or all of the Procedure A (temperature) protocol.
August 30, 2007: Students in periods 1, 5, and 7 completed the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation handout in class and submitted it to be graded. Mrs. Annee completed the Beano pre-lab discussion by asking the question, “After five minutes, what is the relationship between the amount of glucose in a sample and the effectiveness of Beano?”
August 29, 2007: Period 1 biotech students took the Solutions quiz. Students in periods 1, 5, and 7 reviewed cell parts and graphed the class data for the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation. All students received a copy of the Beano lab which needs to be read for tomorrow’s class. All students also received a copy of “The Big Chill” which they are to read for Friday (see question #11 on the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation blog page). All students were introduced to the Biotech Extra Credit Blog.
August 28, 2007: Period 1 biotech students did not have class today due to the mandatory senior class meeting. Students in periods 5 and 7 took the Solutions quiz. Period 7 students began taking notes for Unit 1: Introduction to Cells (notes are posted on Edline).
August 27, 2007: Biotech students collected data for the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation activity today (see the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation page of this blog for pictures and reflective questions).
