August 31, 2007:  The day for the Beano lab has finally arrived!

Class began with a brief recap of the purpose of the Beano lab and yesterday’s question, “After five minutes, what is the relationship between the amount of glucose in a sample and the effectiveness of Beano?”  Students made predictions and then entered the lab to complete most or all of the Procedure A (temperature) protocol.

August 30, 2007:  Students in periods 1, 5, and 7 completed the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation handout in class and submitted it to be graded.  Mrs. Annee completed the Beano pre-lab discussion by asking the question, “After five minutes, what is the relationship between the amount of glucose in a sample and the effectiveness of Beano?”

August 29, 2007:  Period 1 biotech students took the Solutions quiz.  Students in periods 1, 5, and 7 reviewed cell parts and graphed the class data for the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation.  All students received a copy of the Beano lab which needs to be read for tomorrow’s class.  All students also received a copy of “The Big Chill” which they are to read for Friday (see question #11 on the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation blog page).  All students were introduced to the Biotech Extra Credit Blog.

August 28, 2007: Period 1 biotech students did not have class today due to the mandatory senior class meeting.  Students in periods 5 and 7 took the Solutions quiz.  Period 7 students began taking notes for Unit 1: Introduction to Cells (notes are posted on Edline).

August 27, 2007:  Biotech students collected data for the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation activity today (see the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation page of this blog for pictures and reflective questions).
