September 24, 2007:  Students continued their exploration of DNA by visiting a website (www.umass.edu/molvis/tutorials/dna/) which allowed them to rotate and study the DNA molecule in detail.

Sept 17-21: Enzymes & DNA

September 21, 2007:  Students studied the molecular structure of nucleotides.

September 20, 2007:  Quizzes were returned in all classes.  Students began taking Unit 2: DNA notes and constructed paper models of DNA.  Final analysis of the Plant Enzyme lab was completed and the labs were submitted to Mrs. Annee to be graded.

September 19, 2007:  Students in all classes took the Enzyme-Substrate/Beano quiz and were given 4 handouts of nucleotide subunits to cut out for tomorrow.  Students in period 7 finished graphing their Plant Enzyme data.

September 18, 2007:  Students in all classes took the Unit 1 quiz.  Students in periods 1 and 5 completed graphing data from the Plant Enzyme lab, while students in period 7 measured results for Part IIC of the Plant Enzyme lab and graphed the standard curve.  Students in all classes were reminded of the Enzyme-Substrate/Beano quiz tomorrow.

September 17, 2007:  Students in periods 1 and 5 completed Part IIC of the Plant Enzyme lab, while students in period 7 completed the reactions in Part IIC but will measure the results tomorrow.  Students in all classes were reminded of the Unit 1 quiz tomorrow.

September 14, 2007:  Mrs. Annee discussed the formation of a polypeptide chain when amino acids are joined and the constuction of next week’s quizzes.

September 13, 2007:  Students in periods 1, 5, and 7 continued their work on the Plant Enzyme lab by completing protocol IID.  Students in periods 1 and 7 also finished Part IIA of the lab.

September 12, 2007:  Students in periods 1, 5, and 7 completed the Unit 1 notes.  Mrs. Annee announced two quizzes next week:  A Unit 1 quiz on Tuesday, Sept 18 and an Enzyme-Substrate & Beano quiz on Wednesday, Sept 19.  Students in period 7 continued working on Part IIA of the Plant Enzyme lab.

September 11, 2007:  Students in periods 1 and 7 completed Part IIB and began Part IIA of the Plant Enzyme lab.  Students in period 5 completed protocols for both Part IIB and Part IIA.

September 10, 2007:  Cell quizzes were returned and Mrs. Annee led a brief review of Part I of the Plant Enzyme lab.  Students began Part IIB of the Plant Enzyme lab today.

Sept 4 – 7: Biotech Enthusiasts Continue Exploration of Enzymes

September 7, 2007:  Students in all classes took the Cell Structures & Functions quiz and then continued discussion of the Unit 1 notes (amino acids).

September 6, 2007:  Students in all classes completed graphing the Beano lab data and submitted it to Mrs. Annee to be graded.  All biotech students completed Part I of the Plant Enzyme lab.  Students in periods 1 and 7 continued their discussion of the Unit 1 notes that deals with macromolecules.

September 5, 2007:  Students in all classes began graphing the data from the Beano lab.

September 4, 2007 Students in periods 1, 5, and 7 collected pH data for the Beano lab.  Mrs. Annee announced a 20 point quiz over cell parts that students will take on Friday, Sept 7.   Students received a copy of the Plant Enzyme lab which they are to read for Thursday.

Students in period 5 also continued the Unit 1 notes as they discussed macromolecules.
