(MichaelW, HillaryE, ShelbiA, PaigeT, and LauraL-H celebrate the picture-perfect results of their Electrophoretic Separation of Proteins gel!)
Thurs, Mar 20: Students ran the gel for the Electrophoretic Separation of Proteins lab. Mrs. Annee discussed the answers to the first three pedigree practice problems and students in periods 1 and 7 completed the “Exploration of Isoelectric Point” Internet activity.
Wed, Mar 19: Students took a quiz on X-linked traits and multiple alleles.
Tues, Mar 18: Students took a quiz about mutations, discussed and studied pedigrees, and discussed isoelectric point of proteins. Students in period 5 also submitted their Got Protein? labs and completed the “Exploration of Isoelectric Point” Internet activity.
Mon, Mar 17: Happy St. Patrick’s DNA! Mrs. Annee distributed third quarter grades and discussed the answers to the multiple allele practice problems.

Fri, Mar 14: Mrs. Annee went over the X-linked practice problems and discussed multiple alleles (practice problems were distributed).
Thurs, Mar 13: Mrs. Annee discussed X-linked inheritance and distributed practice problems. Students in periods 1 and 7 diluted milk samples, loaded vertical gels, and submitted their Got Protein? lab to Mrs Annee. Students in period 5 completed data collection and standard curve construction for the Got Protein? lab.
Wed, Mar 12: Students took a quiz over monohybrid, dihybrid, and polyhybrid crosses.
Tues, Mar 11: Students finished watching Three Sisters: Searching for a Cure. Mrs. Annee gave students a self-quiz over monohybrid, dihybrid, and polyhybrid crosses. Students in periods 1 and 7 constructed a standard curve for the Got Protein? lab while students in period 5 diluted milk samples and loaded them into polyacrylamide gels.
Mon, Mar 10: Students watched the HBO documenary called Three Sisters: Searching for a Cure about Jenifer Estess and her sisters.

Fri, Mar 7: Mrs. Annee went over the answers to the dihybrid and polyhybrid practice problems. She also announced a quiz covering monohybrid, dihybrid, and polyhybrid crosses will take place on Wednesday, Mar 12. Students calculated the concetration of milk in mg/mL for whole, soy, skim, and 2% milk in preparation for the Got Protein? lab analysis.
Thurs, Mar 6: Students prepared samples and collected data for the Got Protein? (Bradford assay) lab.
Wed, Mar 5: Mrs. Annee went over the answers to the monohybrid practice problems and then discussed dihybrid and polyhybrid crosses. She distributed practice problems for both types of crosses. Students in period 1 submitted the Analysis of a Mutant Hemoglobin lab to Mrs. Annee.
Tues, Mar 4: Students watched the film, The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off. Students in period 5 submitted the Analysis of a Mutant Hemoglobin lab to Mrs. Annee.
Mon, Mar 3: Mrs. Annee returned the Unit 4 quizzes and discussed the CSI Event Student Committee expectations. Mrs. Annee began the Unit 6 notes be reviewing important genetics terms and monohybrid crosses. Students received monohybrid practice probems (Mrs. Annee will go over the answers in class tomorrow).
