Mar 21-25: Restriction Enzymes

Fri, Mar 25: Students completed Part I of the Bioinformatics Map of the Beta-Globin Gene activity.

Thurs, Mar 24: Mrs. Annee discussed a small portion of the Unit 3 notes (Protein Synthesis) and then students began Part I of the Bioinformatics Map of the Beta-Globin Gene activity.

Wed, Mar 23:  Students worked on the Mutant Hemoglobin Gene lab analysis.  Period 2 did not have class today due to the prom meeting.

Tues, Mar 22:  Students completed the Internet assignment called “Exploration of Restriction Enzymes.”

Mon, Mar 21: Mrs. Annee returned the Restriction Enzyme quiz, students completed the Analysis of a Genome Segment lab, and students ran gels for the Mutant Hemoglobin Gene lab.

Mar 14-18: Restriction Enzymes

Fri, Mar 18:  Students took the Restriction Mapping quiz.

Thurs, Mar 17:  Students worked on the Analysis of the Genome Segment lab and Mrs. Annee reviewed for tomorrow’s Restriction Mapping quiz.

Wed, Mar 16: Students began analysis of the Analysis of a Genome Segment lab.

Tues, Mar 15:  Mrs. Annee went over the answers to Restriction Enzymes Practice Problems III and students prepared samples and gels for the Analysis of a Genome Segment lab.

Mon, Mar 14:  In periods 2, 4, and 6 students finished watching My Sister’s Keeper.  Period 8 students completed the Anatomy & Evolution of the Genome lab and began the Analysis of a Genome Segment lab.

Mar 7-11: Restriction Enzymes

Thurs, Mar 10 – Fri, Mar 11:  Students watched My Sister’s Keeper

Wed, Mar 9:  Students in periods 2, 4, and 6 completed their Anatomy & Evolution of the Genome lab.  Period 8 students began watching My Sister’s Keeper.

Tues, Mar 8:  Students analyzed their gels for the Anatomy & Evolution of the Genome lab.

Mon, Mar 7:  Mrs. Annee reviewed the answers to the Restriction Mapping II practice problems and discussed the Anatomy & Evolution of the Genome lab.

Feb 28-Mar 4: Restriction Enzymes

Fri, Mar 4:  Students completed an Internet assignment called, “Exploration of Restriction Enzymes.”

Thurs, Mar 3:  Students are continuing to learn how to create restiction maps.

Wed, Mar 2:  Students took a quiz over PCR and the GM Foods lab.

Tues, Mar 1:  Mrs. Annee discussed the Restriction Analysis handout and students were introduced to the concept of creating restriction maps.  Students also loaded gels for the Anatomy & Evolution of the Genome lab.

Mon, Feb 28:  Students completed the DNA Scissors activity and began work on the Restriction Analysis handout.
