Thurs, Jan 30: Students ran gels for the DNA Barcoding lab and prepped samples to be sent to a company for sequencing.

Wed, Jan 29: Students completed Part I of the activity, “Using Genetic Crosses to Analyze a Stickleback Trait.”

Tues, Jan 28: No school due to inclement weather.

Fri, Jan 24: Students began watching the film, RARE.

Thurs, Jan 23 (delayed opening): Students completed Part II of “Murder by HIV?”

Wed, Jan 22: Students began Part II of “Murder by HIV?”

Tues, Jan 21 (delayed opening): Students completed prepared the PCR products (DNA Barcoding Lab) for electrophoresis.

Mon, Jan 20: No school.

Jan 13-17: DNA Barcoding

Friday, Jan 17:  Students in periods 4 and 8 completed the “Using Bioinformatics to Study Evolutionary Relationships” whereas students in periods 2 and 6 began the Fish DNA Barcoding lab.

Thurs, Jan 16: Students in periods 2 and 6 prepared fish samples for tomorrow’s Fish DNA Barcoding lab.  Period 4 began the “Murder by HIV?” case study, whereas students in period 8 began “Using Bioinformatics to Study Evolutionary Relationships.”

Wed, Jan 15: Students in periods 2 and 6 completed the “Using Bioinformatics to Study Evolutionary Relationships” whereas students in periods 4 and 8 began the Fish DNA Barcoding lab.

Tues, Jan 14: Mrs. Annee discussed the Fish DNA Barcoding lab.

Mon, Jan 13: Mrs. Annee showed students a brief introductory video about DNA barcoding and then students completed “Using BLAST and BOLD for Genetic Research.”

Jan 6-10: DNA Profiling and Barcoding

Fri, Jan 10 (delayed opening): Students completed the case study, “The Case of the Druid Dracula.”

Thurs, Jan 9 (delayed opening): Students began the case study, “The Case of the Druid Dracula.”

Wed, Jan 8 (delayed opening): Mrs. Annee returned the first semester final exams and students conducted the online activity, “PCR and DNA Profiling.”
