Thurs, Feb 27: Mrs. Annee discussed Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.

Wed, Feb 26: Students participated in a small group debate.

Tues, Feb 25: Students read a bioethical scenario and researched information to prepare for tomorrow’s debate.

Mon, Feb 24: Students completed the Chromosome 16 lab by performing Hardy-Weinberg analysis on the class genotype data.

Feb 17-21: Genetics

Fri, Feb 21: Students analyzed gels for the Chromosome 16 lab and completed the “PKU Carriers” case study.  They also analyzed sushi DNA samples from the DNA Barcoding lab.

Thurs, Feb 20: Students loaded gels for the Chromosome 16 lab and began the “PKU Carriers: How Many are in Your Hometown?” case study.

Wed, Feb 19: Students in periods 4 and 8 completed Lesson 2 of the Chromosome 16 lab.  All classes worked on Chromosome 16 discussion questions 1-12.

Tues, Feb 18: Students began the Chromosome 16 lab; periods 2 and 6 completed Lessons 1 & 2, whereas students in periods 4 and 8 completed Lesson 1.

Mon, Feb 17: Students completed the “Maternity Dispute” case study.

Feb 10-15: GATTACA & Genetics

Fri, Feb 14: Students completed the “Sickle Cell: Am I a Carrier?” lab and continued working on “Maternity Dispute.”

Thurs, Feb 13: Students began the lab, “Sickle Cell: Am I a Carrier?” and began the case study, “Maternity Dispute.”

Wed, Feb 12: Mrs. Annee went over the answers to the pedigree practice problems.

Tues, Feb 11: Mrs. Annee introduced pedigrees.

Mon, Feb 10: Students watched GATTACA and Mrs. Annee discussed the answers to the X-linked practice problems.
