Aug 31 – Sept 4: Enzymes

Mon, Aug 31 (Day 3): Students began the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation (students in periods 2 and 8 completed Trials 1 and 2, whereas students in periods 4 and 6 completed Trial 1).

Tues, Sept 1 (Day 4): Mrs. Annee finished discussing course policies.  Students in periods 2 and 8 completed Trial 3, whereas students in periods 4 and 6 completed Trials 2 and 3 of the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation.

Wed, Sept 2 (Day 5; Delayed Opening): Students in periods 2 and 8 began graphing the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation data, whereas students in periods 4 and 6 began the Protein Folding Study lab.

Thursday, Sept 3 (Day 1): Students in periods 2 and 8 began the Protein Folding Study lab, whereas students in periods 4 and 6 completed the lab.

Friday, Sept 4 (Day 2): Students in periods 2 and 8 completed the Protein Folding Study lab.  Students in all classes completed and submitted the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation.

Aug 24-28: Biotech Equipment

Mon, Aug 24 (Day 3): Mrs. Annee gave students a second solutions self-quiz in preparation for Wednesday’s quiz over solutions and the DNA Necklace lab.  Mrs. Annee also began discussing class policies.

Tues, Aug 25 (Day 4): Mrs. Annee introduced the Biotech Equipment lab (gel electrophoresis, vortex, and microcentrifuge).  Students completed the Micropette Lab Activity A.

Wed, Aug 26 (Day 5): Students took the DNA Necklace & Solutions lab quiz.

Thurs, Aug 27 (Day 1): Students completed Lab Activity B of the Micropipette lab.

Fri, Aug 28 (Day 2): Mrs. Annee returned the quizzes and students completed the Biotech lab (gel electrophoresis, vortex, and microcentrifuge).

Aug 17-21: Course Introduction, Solutions, and Micropipettes

Mon, Aug 17 (Day 3): Students in periods 2 and 8 completed the Solutions lab, whereas students in periods 4 and 6 completed a survey.

Tues, Aug 18 (Day 4): Mrs. Annee gave a presentation about her biotech adventures.

Wed, Aug 19 (Day 5): Mrs. Annee discussed the DNA Necklace lab in all classes.  In periods 2 and 8, students completed a survey, whereas students in periods 4 and 6 completed the Solutions lab.

Thurs, Aug 20 (Day 1): Mrs. Annee announced a quiz over the DNA Necklace and Solutions labs will take place on Wed, Aug 26.  Mrs. Annee reviewed solutions by giving students a self-quiz.

Friday, Aug 21 (Day 2, altered schedule): Mrs. Annee discussed proper micropipette use and care.  Students began Lab Activity A of the Micropipette lab.
