Apr 25-29: Restriction Enzymes

Fri, Apr 29 (Day 3, altered schedule): Students completed the restriction digest for the “Analysis of a Mutant Hemoglobin Gene” lab and began working on the “Analysis of a Genome Segment” lab.

Thurs, Apr 28 (Day 2):  Mrs. Annee discussed restriction mapping and announced a quiz will take place on Wed, May 4, 2016.

Wed, Apr 27 (Day 1): Students completed the “Exploration of Restriction Enzymes” Internet handout.

Tues, Apr 26 (Day 5): Students began the “Exploration of Restriction Enzymes” Internet handout.

Mon, Apr 25 (Day 4): Students took a quiz over Chromosome 16 and the Restriction Enzyme labs.

Apr 18-22: Restriction Enzymes

Thurs, Apr 21 (Day 2): Students ran gels for the Analysis of a Genome Segment lab and practiced graphing on semi-log paper in preparation for Monday’s quiz.

Wed, Apr 20 (Day 1): Students prepared restriction digests for the Analysis of a Genome Segment lab and began the DNA Scissors handout.  Mrs. Annee announced there is a quiz on Mon, Apr 25 over the Chromosome 16 and Restriction Enzyme labs (she discussed the format of the quiz).

Tues, Apr 19 (Day 5): Students completed the Restriction Enzyme lab.

Mon, Apr 18 (Day 4): Mrs. Annee went over the answers to the Chromosome 16 lab questions.  Students analyzed the Restriction Enzyme gels and answered questions in the lab packet.

Apr 11-15: Genetic Testing

Fri, Apr 15 (Day 3): Students analyzed the Chromosome 16 gels and loaded the Restriction Enzyme gels.

Thurs, Apr 14 (Day 2): Students loaded gels for the Chromosome 16 lab.  Students also prepared restriction digests for the Restriction Enzyme lab.

Wed, Apr 13 (Day 1): Students conducted the small group debate.

Tues, Apr 12 (Day 5): Students continued working on research in preparation for tomorrow’s small group debate.

Mon, Apr 11 (Day 4): Mrs. Annee discussed the Chromosome 16 lab and students conducted Lesson 2 of the lab.
