Fri, Sept 18:  Students in periods 2 and 8 built molecular structures of amino acids while students in periods 4 and 6 completed Part IID of the Amylase lab.

Thurs, Sept 17:  Students in periods 2 and 8 continued the Unit 1 notes while periods 4 and 6 built molecular structures of amino acids.

Wed, Sept 16:  Students submitted their completed Beano labs.  Periods 2 and 6 completed Amylase Part IIA while students in periods 4 and 8 complted Part IIC of the same lab.

Tues, Sept 15:  Students graphed the data from the Beano lab.

Mon, Sept 14:  Students in periods 2 and 8 completed Part IID of the Amlyase lab whereas students in periods 4 and 6 continued with the Unit 1 notes.

Fri, Sept 11: Students completed Part IIB of the Amylase lab.  Periods 4 and 8 also completed PartIIA while students in periods 2 and 6 complted PartIIC of the lab.

Thurs, Sept 10:  Students began Part IIB of the Amylase lab.

Wed, Sept 9:  Students began graphing Beano data.

Tues, Sept 8: Students in periods 2 and 6 completed the Beano lab and Part I of the Amylase lab.   Periods 4 and 8 completed Part I of the Amylase lab.

Mon, Sept 7: No School

Fri, Sept 4:  Students took a quiz over solutions and began the Unit 1 notes.

Thurs, Sept 3:  Students in periods 2 and 6 completed Part A of the Beano lab wherease students in period 4 and 8 completed Parts A and B.

Wed, Sept 2: Students completed and submitted their Enzyme-Substrate simulation handouts.

Tues, Sept 1: Students worked on analyzing the data for the Enzyme-Substrate simulation.

Mon, Aug 31:  Students collected data for the Enzyme-Substrate Simulation activity.

Fri, Aug 28: Students took a quiz over the DNA Necklace lab and Equipment lab. 

Thurs, Aug 27: Students completed the Solutions lab.

Wed, Aug 26:  Mrs. Annee discussed lab safety and distributed the Brebeuf Science Lab Safety Acknowledgement form.  Students began the Solutions lab.

Tues, Aug 25:  Mrs. Annee discussed the DNA Necklace Lab and Friday’s quiz (DNA Necklace & Biotech Equipment labs).

Mon, Aug 24:  Students completed the Equipment lab.

Fri, Aug 21: Students watched Dr. Randy Pausch’s Last Lecture and then practiced posting comments on the class blog.

Thurs, Aug 20: Mrs. Annee discussed course policies.

Wed, Aug 19:  Complete the DNA Necklace lab.  Mrs. Annee discussed and demonstrated how to use biotech equipment.

Mon, May 18: Students in periods 3, 5, and 7 completed an online course evaluation for Honors Biotechnology while students in period 1 finished the GFP lab.

Fri, May 15: Students analyzed blood spatter left at the crime scene.

Thurs, May 14 Students in periods 1 and 7 analyzed the bloody shoe print, while students in periods 3 and 5 analyzed bitemark evidence.

Wed, May 13: Students analyzed the hair found on the laptop at the crime scene.

Tues, May 12: In periods 1 and 5, students analyzed bitemark evidence whereas students analyzed a bloody shoe print in periods 3 and 7.

Mon, May 11: Students analyzed the blood and fingerprints found at the crime scene.

Fri, May 7: Students analyzed known samples of fiber in preparation of identifying fibers found at the crime scene.

Thurs, May 6: Students used column chromatography to separate GFP from bacterial proteins released from the lysed E. coli.

Wed, May 5: CSI interviews continued.  Students completed a pilot test for AAAS Project 2061.

Tues, May : Senior Free Day.  Juniors made up missed work due to retreats, illness, etc.

Mon, May 4: Students completed Lesson 3 of the GFP lab.  Also, CSI interviews of suspects began.

Fri, May 1: Students completed Lesson 2 of the GFP lab and visited the CSI crime scene to collect evidence.

Thurs, Apr 30: Students in period 1 did not have class due to a prom meeting during the 9:15am PRT, whereas students in periods 3, 5, and 7 analyzed their pGLO plates.

Wed, Apr 29: Students observed their starter plates and then conducted the transformation portion of the pGLO lab.

Tues, Apr 28: Students prepared starter plates for the pGLO lab.

Mon, Apr 27: No School

Fri, Apr 24: Students took a quiz over Hardy-Weinberg problems.  Periods 1 and 7 also completed the Size Exclusion Chromatography lab.

Thurs, Apr 23: Mrs. Annee gave a pre-lab lecture over Size Exclusion Chromatography in period 1, while she discussed the pGLO lab in periods 3, 5, and 7.

Wed, Apr 22: Students completed analysis of the PV92 Chromosome 16 lab.  Periods 3 and 5 also completed the Size Exclusion Chromatography lab.

Tues, Apr 21: Students analyzed their PV92 Chromosome 16 samples.

Mon, Apr 20: Students loaded their DNA samples in a gel and then Mrs. Annee discussed the answers to the Hardy-Weinberg practice problems.
