Fri, May 1: Students completed Lesson 2 of the GFP lab and visited the CSI crime scene to collect evidence.

Thurs, Apr 30: Students in period 1 did not have class due to a prom meeting during the 9:15am PRT, whereas students in periods 3, 5, and 7 analyzed their pGLO plates.

Wed, Apr 29: Students observed their starter plates and then conducted the transformation portion of the pGLO lab.

Tues, Apr 28: Students prepared starter plates for the pGLO lab.

Mon, Apr 27: No School

Apr 20-24: Hardy-Weinberg

Fri, Apr 24: Students took a quiz over Hardy-Weinberg problems.  Periods 1 and 7 also completed the Size Exclusion Chromatography lab.

Thurs, Apr 23: Mrs. Annee gave a pre-lab lecture over Size Exclusion Chromatography in period 1, while she discussed the pGLO lab in periods 3, 5, and 7.

Wed, Apr 22: Students completed analysis of the PV92 Chromosome 16 lab.  Periods 3 and 5 also completed the Size Exclusion Chromatography lab.

Tues, Apr 21: Students analyzed their PV92 Chromosome 16 samples.

Mon, Apr 20: Students loaded their DNA samples in a gel and then Mrs. Annee discussed the answers to the Hardy-Weinberg practice problems.

Apr 13-17: Bioethics & Hardy-Weinberg

Fri, Apr 17: Students in periods 1 and 7 extracted and amplified DNA from their cheek cells, while students in periods 3 and 5 participated in a bioethics debate.

Thurs, Apr 16: Students took a quiz over pedigrees.

Wed, Apr 15: Students in periods 1 and 7 engaged in a bioethics debate about PND, while students in periods 3 and 5 extracted and amplified DNA from their cheek cells.

Tues, Apr 14: Students finished their research for the upcoming debate.

Mon, Apr 13: Mrs. Annee postponed the pedigree quiz until Thurs, Apr 16.  Students began research in preparation for an upcoming bioethics debate.

Apr 6-9: Pedigrees

Thurs, Apr 9: Mrs. Annee discussed Population Genetics (Hardy-Weinberg) and then collected data for various human traits from students.

Wed, Apr 8: Students completed the “Sickle Cell: Am I a Carrier?” lab and discussed issues associated with genetic screening.

Tues, Apr 7: Students continued working on the “Sickle Cell: Am I a Carrier?” lab.  Mrs. Annee also introduced a bioethical scenario students will be researching and debating.

Mon, Apr 6: Mrs. Annee went over the answers to the pedigree practice problems.  Students began the “Sickle Cell: Am I a Carrier?” lab.
