Thurs, Mar 31 (Day 2): Students finished watching Life According to Sam.

Wed, Mar 30 (Day 1): Students began watching Life According to Sam.

Tues, Mar 29 (Day 5): Students began research for the small group debate.

Mon, Mar 28 (Day 4): Students conducted Lesson 1 of the Chromosome 16 lab.

Mar 21-25: Bioethics of Genetic Testing

Fri, Mar 25: No school.

Thurs, Mar 24 (Day 3): Students viewed the results of the “Sickle Cell: Am I a Carrier?” lab and submitted it.  Students also were introduced to a bioethical scenario about genetic screening.

Wed, Mar 23 (Day 2; altered schedule): Students took a quiz over X-linked traits and pedigrees.

Tues, Mar 22 (Day 1; altered schedule): Mrs. Annee gave students a practice pedigree problem in preparation for tomorrow’s pedigree/X-linked quiz.  Students loaded gels for the “Sickle Cell: Am I a Carrier?” lab.

Mon, Mar 21 (Day 5): Students continued the lab, “Sickle Cell: Am I a Carrier?”

Mar 14-18: Evolution & Applications of DNA Testing

Fri, Mar 18 (Day 4): Students finished the TED Talk assignment.  Mrs. Annee then introduced the “Sickle Cell: Am I a Carrier?” lab.

Thurs, Mar 17 (Day 3): Students formed groups to watch one of three TED Talks and complete the corresponding assignment.

Wed, Mar 16 (Day 2; 2-hr delay): Students finished watching The Family that Walks on All Fours.

Tues, Mar 15 (Day 1): Students analyzed the sushi DNA sequences.

Mon, Mar 14 (Day 5): Students began watching The Family that Walks on All Fours.

Mar 7-11: Evolution & Pedigrees

Fri, Mar 11 (Day 4): Students took a group quiz over the film, Great Transitions: The Origins of Humans.  Also, students completed and submitted the “Using Genetic Crosses to Analyze a Stickleback Trait” activity.

Thurs, Mar 10 (Day 3): Students completed pedigree practice problems and Mrs. Annee went over the answers.  There will be a quiz over X-linked traits  and pedigrees on Fri, Mar 18.

Wed, Mar 9 (Day 2): Mrs. Annee distributed pedigree practice problems.  Students completed an individual film quiz over the short film, Great Transitions: The Origins of Humans.

Mon, Mar 7 and Tues, Mar 8: No school
