Fri, Feb 27:  Mrs. Annee announced that a Unit 4 quiz (protein synthesis) will take place on Thurs, Mar 5.  She then reviewed material for the quiz.

Thurs, Feb 26: Students prepared samples for the Got Protein? lab and collected data.

Wed, Feb 25: Students in periods 3 and 7 completed the Protein Folding Study lab.  Period 1, 5, and 7 students continued their analysis of the Protein Structure Analysis lab.

Tues, Feb 24: Periods 1 and 5 completed the Protein Folding Study lab.  Students in periods 3 and 7 prepared samples and loaded gels for the Protein Folding Study lab.  All students continued working on their Protein Structure Analyis lab.

Mon, Feb 23: Students in periods 1 and 5 prepared samples and loaded gels for the Protein Folding Study lab, whereas students in periods 3 and 7 continued working on thier Protein Structure Analysis lab.

Fri, Feb 20: Students completed the Protein Structure Analysis pre-lab questions.

Thurs, Feb 19: Students completed the Beta-Globin Folding activity.  Students in periods 1 and 5 prepared and ran samples for the Protein Structure Analysis lab.

Wed, Feb 18: Students in periods 1 and 5 continued the Beta-Globin Folding activity, whereas students in periods 3 and 7 prepared and ran samples for the Protein Structure Analysis lab.

Tues, Feb 17: Students began the Beta-Globin Folding activity.

Mon, Feb 16 : No school

Thurs, Feb 12: Students completed the activity, “Introns, Exons, Oh My!” and then Mrs. Annee discussed translation (Unit 4 notes).  Students took a three point extra credit quiz over PCR and primers.

Wed, Feb 11: Mrs. Annee distributed CSI Committee sign-up forms and then discussed transcription (Unit 4 Notes) while also going over the answers to the Beta-Globin Exercise Part II.  Students began the activity “Introns, Exons, Oh My!”

Tues, Feb 10: Mrs. Annee announced a three point extra credit quiz will take place on Thursday.  Students completed the Amino Acid Starter Kit activity.

Mon, Feb 9: Mrs. Annee returned the PCR and GM Foods lab quiz and went over it in class.  Students continued the Beta-Globin Exercise Part II.

Feb 6, 2009: Students watched the film, Test Tube Babies, while Mrs. Annee attended the HASTI conference.

Feb 5, 2009:  Students watched a portion of the film, A Question of Genes: Inherited Risks, while Mrs. Annee attended Nerd Fest ‘09 (HASTI conference).

Feb 4, 2009:  Students took a quiz over PCR and the GM Foods lab.

Feb 3, 2009: Mrs. Annee discussed the portion of Unit 4 notes devoted to transcription, while also going over the answers to the Beta-Globin Exercise.  Students began Part II of the Beta-Globin Exercise.

Feb 2, 2009: Mrs. Annee reviewed for the PCR and GM Foods quiz that will take place on Wed, Feb 4.  Students also continued the Beta-Globin Exercise.
