Wed, Feb 24 – Fri, Feb 26:  Students are watching the film My Sister’s Keeper while Mrs. Annee attends the NAIS conference.

Tues, Feb 23:  Students continued answering the pre-lab questions for the Analysis of Protein Structure lab.

Mon, Feb 22:  Students completed the Beta-Globin Folding kit and began answering the pre-lab questions for the Analysis of Protein Structure lab.

Feb 16-19: GM Foods & Proteins

Fri, Feb 19:  Students continued the Beta-Globin Folding activity.

Thurs, Feb 18:  Students prepared samples for the Protein Structure Analysis lab and loaded them into vertical gels.  Students continued the Beta-Globin Folding activity.

Wed, Feb 17:  Students completed and submitted their final reflections for the GM foods discussion.  They also began the Beta-Globin Folding activity.

Tues, Feb 16: Students participated in a small group scored discussion about GM foods.

Mon, Feb 15: No School.

Feb 8-11: GM Foods & Proteins

Fri, Feb 12: No school for students.

Thurs, Feb 11:  Students completed the activity, “Introns, Exons, Oh My!” and their research for Tuesday’s bioethics discussion about GM Foods.

Wed, Feb 10:  The GM Foods scored discussion has been postponed to Tuesday, Feb 16.  Mrs. Annee went over the Beta-Globin Mapping, Part 2 activity and continued discussing protein synthesis (Unit 3 notes).

Tues, Feb 9: No school due to snow.

Mon, Feb 8: Students continued their research in preparation for Thursday’s scored discussion about the biotethics of GM Foods.

Feb 1-5: Proteins & GM Food

Wed, Feb 3 – Fri, Feb 5:  Mrs. Annee is attending the HASTI conference.  Students are watching King Corn in preparation for the GM foods scored discussion next week.

Tues, Feb 2:  Students completed Part 2 of the Bioinformatics Map of the Beta-Globing Gene activity and began research about GM foods in preparation for a scored discussion on Feb 11.

Mon, Feb 1: Mrs. Annee returned the PCR & GM Foods quiz.  Students worked on Part 2 of the Bioinformatics Map of the Beta-Globin Gene activity.
