Apr 30-May 4: Proteins

Fri, May 4: Mrs. Annee reviewed for next Thursday’s quiz (pGLO, GFP, Size Exclusion, and Isoelectric Point) and discussed the Serum Proteins lab.  Students in periods 2 and 8 completed the lab analysis.

Thurs, May 3: Mrs. Annee discussed the Electrophoretic Separation of Proteins lab and students loaded the Serum Proteins gel.

Wed, May 2: Students completed the Isoelectric Point Internet Assignment and ran the Electrophoretic Separation of Proteins gel.

Tues, May 1: Students watched the first chapter (26 mins) of Bloodlines: Technology Hits Home.

Mon, Apr 30: Mrs. Annee discussed the pGLO and GFP lab analysis questions.

Apr 23-27: pGLO and GFP

Fri, Apr 27: Mrs. Annee discussed Size Exclusion Chromatography and students conducted the lab.

Thurs, Apr 26: Mrs. Annee returned the Unit 3 quizzes.  Period 2 students participated in a Skype discussion with a BJPS science alum.  Students in period 8 completed the pGLO and GFP lab analysis questions.

Wed, Apr 25: Students in periods 2, 4, and 6 completed Lesson 5 of the GFP lab, whereas period 8 students completed Lessons 4 and 5.

Tues, Apr 24: Students in periods 2, 4, and 6 completed Lesson 4 of the GFP lab, whereas period 8 students completed Lesson 3.

Mon, Apr 23: Students in periods 2, 4, and 6 completed Lesson 3 of the GFP lab.  Period 8 students enjoyed listening to a guest speaker (BJPS alum).

Apr 16-20: pGLO and GFP

Fri, Apr 20: Students watched Venom: Nature’s Killer.

Thurs, Apr 19: Students took the Unit 3 Quiz.

Wed, Apr 18: Mrs. Annee discussed the pGLO lab. Students analyzed the pGLO agar plates and began the GFP Purification lab.

Tues, Apr 17: Students performed the transformation portion of the pGLO lab.  Mrs. Annee reviewed for the quiz in period 8.

Mon, Apr 16: Mrs. Annee reviewed for the Unit 3 quiz in periods 4 and 6.  Students in period 2 did not have class due to a mandatory prom meeting and students in period 8 participated in a Skype conference with a BJPS alum.

Apr 9-13: Proteins

Fri, Apr 13: Students completed the Protein Structure Analysis lab, loaded and ran gels for the Chromosome 16 lab, and Mrs. Annee began to review for the Unit 3 quiz.  Students in periods 2 and 8 also began the pGLO lab. 

Thurs, Apr 12: Students completed the Pre-Lab Questions for the Protein Structure Analysis lab.

Wed, Apr 11: Students prepared samples for the Chromosome 16 lab.

Tues, Apr 10: Students worked on the pre-lab questions for the Protein Structure Analysis lab.

Mon, Apr 9: Mrs. Annee announced a quiz over Unit 3 (protein synthesis) on Thurs, Apr 19.  She discussed the remainder of the Unit 3 notes.

Apr 2-6: Proteins

Thurs, Apr 5: Students completed the Beta-Globin Folding exercise.

Wed, Apr 4: Students continued working on the Beta-Globin Folding exercise.

Tues, Apr 3: Students prepared samples for the Protein Structure Analysis lab.

Mon, Apr 2: Mrs. Annee discussed the answers to the Bioinformatics of the Beta-Globin Gene, Part 2 activity. Students began Beta-Globin Folding exercise.
