Fri, Oct 31: Students celebrated Halloween by taking a quiz over DNA structure and replication (Unit 2 notes).  In periods 1 and 7 students continued working on the DNA Restriction Analysis lab while students in periods 3 and 5 completed the lab analysis.

Thurs, Oct 30:  Mrs. Annee discussed the remainder of the Restriction Analysis assignment and gave students a self-quiz over Unit 2 notes. 

Wed, Oct 29:  Students loaded and ran gels for the DNA Restriction Analysis lab.  Mrs. Annee discussed answers 2-5 of the Restriction Analysis assigment.  Students are to complete the remainder of the assignment for tomorrow.

Tues, Oct 28:  Mrs. Annee postponed the Unit 2 quiz until Friday, Oct 31.  Students prepared and incubated samples for the DNA Restriction Analysis lab and continued their discussion of restriction enzymes.  Mrs. Annee discussed the set-up of Friday’s Unit 2 quiz during period 1.

Mon, Oct 27: Students finished the Unit 2 Notes (DNA Structure & Replication) and began the DNA Scissors activity.  Mrs. Annee discussed the set-up of Thursday’s Unit 2 quiz in periods 3, 5, and 7.

Wed, Oct 22:  Students simulated DNA Replication and Mrs. Annee announced a Unit 2 quiz will take place on Thurs, Oct 30.

Tues, Oct 21:  Students graphed data for the DNA Extraction and Quantification lab.

Mon, Oct 20:  Students finished watching GATTACA and calculated the concentration of DNA (mg/mL) in the four standards prepared for the DNA Extraction and Quantification lab.

Friday, Oct 17: Students will continue watching GATTACA (Mrs. Annee is at the national NABT conference).

Thurs, Oct 16:  Students will begin watching GATTACA (Mrs. Annee is at the national NABT conference in Memphis).   The Designer Babies reflection post is due by 11:59pm tonight.

Wed, Oct 15: Classes are not in session.

Tues, Oct 14: Students submitted the ideal results of the Protein Degradation lab and completed Part C of the DNA Extraction and Quantification lab.

Mon, Oct 13:  Students discussed and illustrated the ideal results of the Protein Degradation lab.

Fri, Oct 10:  Mrs. Annee distributed first quarter grades.  Students completed Part B of the DNA Extraction and Quantification lab.

Thurs, Oct 9: No school today.

Wed, Oct 8: Mrs. Annee reviewed DNA structure (Unit 2 notes) and discussed the DNA Extraction and Quantification lab, which students began today.  Students in periods 1 and 7 also completed the online DNA tutorial.

Tues, Oct 7: Students took a quiz over the Amylase lab.  Period 3 students also finished the online DNA tutorial.

Mon, Oct 6: Students viewed the film Designer Babies and were told they needed to post a reflection online by 11:59pm on Monday, Oct 13, 2008.
